relatinG Fashion & Nutrition

Hi, I'm Emma! I am currently a senior at Immaculata University with a major in Fashion Merchandising and a minor in Product Development and Nutrition. After completing 2 1/2 at West Chester University with a Nutrition and Dietetics major and a minor in Communications, I realized that my life path was in need of a change. I took a year and a half break to gain retail work experience and decided pursuing a career in the fashion industry was my calling. Immaculata University gave me the opportunity to excel in the world of fashion; Classes such as Apparel Construction and Design, Draping, Product Development, Abode, and Retail Math helped me explore my creative side and gain knowledge in the field. On the side, I have started a YouTube channel to showcase my up cycled products and created a Poshmark account to sell both my slightly used clothing and wholesale purchased items.

Although my college experience started out as a Nutrition and Dietetics major, there are several way in which nutrition can relate to fashion. Health and beauty, inside and out, is an aspect in life everyone strives for; With the issues in both the public, such as an increase in the average weight, and fashion industry, such as setting unrealistic body and beauty standards, nutrition is on the forefront of the publics eye.  Creating body positivity campaigns amongst brands and adding sizes for all body shapes is an element more fashion brands should take into consideration. Adding more plus and petite options will only further a brands success as well as instill the idea that al bodies are accepted especially for young, impressional kids and teenager. Models who are all sizes promote to the public that health and beauty comes in all forms.
